Comprehensive Dentistry in Pittsburgh

At Polished Dental, we recognize the close link between a person’s overall health and the health of his or her teeth and gums. Whether you just need to maintain a healthy smile, you need to restore your mouth to its youthful health, or you want to totally make over your smile, our comprehensive dental services let you get and keep the smile you’ve always dreamed of.

Preventive Dental Services

A healthy mouth is a key component of a healthy body. With routine cleanings and proper at-home care, most major dental problems can be avoided. That’s why we emphasize quality preventive dental care at Polished Dental. When we are able to diagnose problems early, we can use the most conservative treatments possible to restore your smile to health.

Routine Exams & Cleanings

We use regular dental checkups and cleanings to catch problems while they’re still small. This lets us use conservative treatments and procedures to prevent the problems from recurring later, or possibly needing more extensive treatment.

Nightguards for TMJ/Bruxism

If you grind your teeth when you’re stressed or while you’re asleep, you may be causing damage to your teeth. Involuntary teeth grinding (bruxism) is very treatable, and treatment could help relieve jaw pain and headaches you may experience. A custom-fitted nightguard can give your jaw a rest and preserve your teeth.

Restorative Dental Services

Sometimes preventive care just isn’t enough to keep your teeth and gums looking and feeling great. At Polished Dental, we offer restorative dentistry to give your smile a second chance.

Tooth-Colored Composite Fillings

Compared to traditional silver amalgam fillings, composite tooth-colored fillings look more natural and require much less drilling and preparation. This not only leaves behind more of the healthy tooth structure, but also gives you a pain-free smile that looks healthy.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns, or caps, can restore damages or decayed teeth, as well as protect them and add much-needed strength. We carefully design and mill your crown so that it not only fits perfectly, but also blends seamlessly with your other natural teeth. We use dental crowns in conjunction with fixed bridges and dental implants to give you back a smile that you’re proud to show off.

Start-to-Finish Dental Implants

If you’re missing teeth, dental implants can give you back your smile and restore your ability to eat, talk, and laugh with confidence. An implant is a small titanium post that is placed in the jawbone. The post fuses with the bone to create a solid anchor for a restoration such as a crown or bridge. When used in conjunction with one of these restorations, implants give you back a tooth that looks and functions like your natural teeth, as well as a confident and healthy smile.

Root Canal Therapy

Don’t suffer through tooth pain! If you have an infected tooth, often a root canal is the best way to rid your tooth of the infection and save your natural tooth. During a root canal, Dr. Stegall and our team clean out the infected tooth pulp, and then fill and seal the inside of the teeth. We place a dental crown on top of the tooth to prevent future damage or infection. Root canals often sound scary, but there is very little discomfort involved, and we offer sedation to help you relax while we work.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Most of us have a set of wisdom teeth that erupt and wreak havoc on our mouth and other teeth. Wisdom teeth can cause crowding, abscesses, infection, and many other serious dental concerns. We recommend that wisdom teeth be removed before they become impacted or begin to shift your other permanent teeth. If you need wisdom teeth removal, we will also provide sedation to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure.

Cosmetic Dental Services

Although our primary concern is your oral health, we haven’t forgotten the importance of having a smile that’s as beautiful as it is healthy. If you’re unhappy with your smile, schedule a free cosmetic evaluation with Dr. Stegall to discuss your options. Pittsburgh dentist Dr. Stegall provides a variety of cosmetic dental treatments that can give you the confident smile you’ve always wanted.

Professional Teeth Whitening

Let us help you get the brighter, whiter smile you’re looking for with our professional whitening treatment. We offer custom whitening trays and professional strength gels for you to use at home. Dental impressions for your custom whitening trays take less than 10 minutes, and you’ll do all the whitening on your own schedule!

Porcelain Veneers

Do you cover your smile in order to hide chipped, gapped, or stained teeth? We can change your smile in virtually any way you can imagine with porcelain veneers! Veneers are thin and durable ceramic shells that are bonded to the front side of teeth to permanently change their color, shape, and size. For mildly gapped teeth, porcelain veneers can even sometimes be used as an alternative to braces.

Invisalign® Aligner Therapy

For adults and older teens who don’t want straightening their teeth to interfere with their lives, we offer Invisalign aligner therapy. Using a series of clear, custom-made aligners, Invisalign gradually moves your teeth into their perfect position without the need for the noticeable bars and brackets of metal braces. The best part? Invisalign trays can be removed to brush your teeth and eat, so you don’t have to give up your favorite foods to get the straighter smile you deserve!

Sedation Dentistry

Your comfort is a top concern of our team. If you’re coming into our Pittsburgh dental office for a long, invasive, or intensive procedure, our dental sedation options help you feel completely at ease while you’re in the dental chair.

Oral Conscious Sedation

To combat moderate to severe dental anxiety, Dr. Stegall often uses oral conscious sedation to help patients feel relaxed while we work. Oral conscious sedation involves the patient taking a carefully prescribed pill shortly before his or her appointment. By the time the procedure begins, the patient is completely relaxed, but awake and aware enough to answer any questions.

IV Sedation

For more invasive procedures, we can use IV sedation to help you relax and let us work faster and more efficiently. IV sedation is carefully monitored throughout your procedure.

If you will be undergoing sedation at an appointment, you will need to have someone drive you to and from your appointment. Schedule an Appointment
